Work History, Licenses and Certifications
I have been in the real estate and appraisal business in Fresno County since 1977, and am currently the president of rpa Wakefield & Hopper, Inc. dba Real Property Analysts. The company was started in 1917 as Lambert & Wakefield, and became Wakefield & Hopper in 1940. I am a licensed real estate broker in the State of California and am registered with the California Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, #AG001738.
I hold the MAI, SRA and AI-GRS designations from the Appraisal Institute. I have been active in local AI leadership, having served as president of Fresno Chapter #76 of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in 1982-83, president of Central California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 1994, and president of the Northern California Chapter of the Appraisal Institute in 2011.
I received my Bachelor of Arts (1975) and Master of Arts (1977) in Biological Science from California State University, Fresno. Education needed for my Real Estate Broker’s License was taken from Fresno City College, and consisted of courses in Real Estate Principles, Practice, Finance, Law and Economics. I have also taken numerous courses and seminars offered by the Appraisal Institute, including but not limited to:

I have qualified as an expert witness in the Superior Courts of Fresno, Madera, Merced, Tulare and Kern Counties, and in the Federal Bankruptcy Court. I have also testified before the Assessment Appeals Board of Fresno County.
